Martin has built a strong professional career in gas utilisation, technical governance and safety standards development. Since achieving Incorporated Engineer status with IGEM in 2013, he has been an active and committed contributor to the institution and wider industry.

Over the past 13 years, Martin has played a key role in the Gas Utilisation Committee, providing technical input and professional insight on issues affecting the gas industry.

Since 2018, he has been a member of the IGEM/G/11 Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure committee, contributing to the ongoing development and refinement of this important standard to ensure it continues to provide clear and practical guidance for gas engineers.

He has also supported the IGEM Large Business Forum since 2014, contributing to industry-wide discussions and sharing expertise to support operational improvement across participating organisations.

In 2021, Martin chaired the committee responsible for developing IGEM/G/11 Supplement 1: Responding to domestic CO alarm activations/reports of fumes after attendance by emergency service providers or LPG suppliers, helping to produce practical guidance for engineers attending domestic incidents.

His wider contributions include participation in the development of IGEM/GL/8 (4th Edition) and most recently supporting the IGEM/UP/1B 4th Edition committee, focused on tightness testing and purging procedures for gas installations.

On receiving his Fellowship, Martin shared: “The Fellowship was always a goal for me, and I see it as a major milestone in my career. Being recognised as a Fellow of IGEM is a fantastic achievement for me and I'm very proud to be accepted for such a privileged position.”

We are proud to welcome Martin as a Fellow and thank him for his dedication, technical expertise and sustained contribution to the profession.
