According to an analysis conducted by the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU), it has been revealed that the UK Government has fallen short in fulfilling its energy security commitments.

The think tank highlights that out of the ten major targets outlined in the British Energy Security Strategy, the government has only managed to achieve three, even after two years since its publication.

The ECIU suggests that the efforts to increase heat pump adoption have been impeded by delays in implementing the Clean Heat Market Mechanism.

Analysts also argue that the government’s focus on expanding North Sea oil and gas drilling may not yield significant benefits.
