Mike Phelan has played, coached and managed at the pinnacle of the game. He has won Premier League, Champions League, and World Club Cup titles and has also represented his country on the international stage.
A serial winner throughout his career, Mike has also engaged in leadership personal development and best practice analysis at places such as NASA, Nike, The British Army and Westpoint Military Academy.

Hilary is an Honorary Fellow of IGEM having served the UK Gas Industry for almost 40 years. She is one of the leading engineers within the gas transportation sector, which she has built through her involvement and contribution facing into a range of industry wide challenges.

As Director of Product Deployment and Change at Skewb, Jack works with a broad range of organisations across gas, water and multi-utilities to implement and embed transformational change through the use of bespoke utilities-focussed technology.
Jack is an experienced leader of strategic transformation initiatives enabling improvements in safety, compliance, performance, and efficiency.

Head of Regulation, Wales & West Utilities
A graduate MSc of Oxford university, Carly started her career in 2005, working on the sale of National Grid’s gas distribution businesses. A chartered accountant and experienced economist, she played a key role in the development and setting of RIIO-GD1 and 2, and has over fifteen years’ experience in regulatory price control settlements and CMA appeals.
Carly leads Wales & West Utilities Regulation team, and is responsible for business planning, license compliance and economic and regulatory issues affecting the gas industry and gas consumers.
Carly’s role is to influence and ensure regulatory policy is fit fair and future proofed for the challenges we face in the gas industry.

Manager, Office of the Chief Engineer, NESO
Neil champions engineering excellence at NESO and supports the Chief Engineer. He has 25 years of experience in delivering change, innovation and improvement in energy engineering, including gas-fired power generation, renewables, batteries and hydrogen.
Prior to joining NESO he was Technical Director of Conrad Energy, Operations Director of Viridis Power, and has worked for Infinis, Rolls-Royce, and Philips.

Principal Engineer, ROSEN (UK) Ltd
Neil Gallon is a Principal Materials and Welding Engineer at ROSEN Integrity Services, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He has over 25 years of experience in manufacturing and consultancy, including roles at Tata Steel and GE.
His current focus lies in exploring the impact of gaseous hydrogen on materials and welds, and he has led or been involved in developing guidelines for repurposing on behalf of industry bodies including EPRG, PRCI, DNV and the Energy Institute.

Business Development Director, SGN
Marcus Hunt is SGN’s Business Development Director with over 20 years’ experience in both regulated and non-regulated utility businesses both in the UK and US and leads SGN’s non-regulated activities and future of energy business development .
Prior to joining SGN, Marcus spent 5 years with KPMG’s Infrastructure Advisory Group, advising clients on a range of commercial strategy, transaction and regulatory issues. At SGN, Marcus and has responsibility for SGN’s decarbonisation activities including hydrogen, biomethane and heat networks. Marcus is a Board member of MUA, SGN’s last mile infrastructure joint venture, The Solent Cluster and FYLD, a start up in the digital SaaS market.

Deputy General Manager, Osaka Gas Co Ltd
Shota is responsible for establishing technology development strategies and carbon neutrality strategies within the Corporate Planning Department at Osaka Gas.
Director of Strategic Energy Planning, NESO
Julian is a chartered engineer with three decades of transmission system operation, planning and investment experience. Julian’s role is to prepare Great Britain’s electricity network for net zero operation, defining future network needs so that market and network owners can invest in the right technology solutions at the right time. Julian is also developing whole energy system plans on a national and regional basis.
Head of Grid Planning & Development, Evida
Alexander is responsible for Evida's long term development planning, capacity planning (making sure there is “room” for the biomethane producer or the new customer in the grid section) related to new biomethane producers and customers.
Head of Energy Futures, Northern Gas Networks
Keith’s role focuses on the challenge of achieving net zero and the role of gas, the underpinning infrastructure and the potential benefits a whole systems approach to systems planning and operation can bring, both to the customer and industry alike. He chairs the IGEM Hydrogen Committee, which is developing the existing suite of UK natural gas standards to support the deployment of 100% hydrogen.
Director of Energy Delivery, National Gas
Jenny is responsible for the planning & real time operation of the National Transmission System, balancing the need to facilitate access to our network assets to ensure their ongoing reliability with the needs of our customers to move gas onto & off the NTS whenever and wherever they want. She has over 30 years of experience across gas and electricity system operation, engineering and asset management.
Engineering Manager, bp
Trever is a Chartered professional engineering manager with over 20 years in the energy industry focused on all stages of projects from concept, FEED, detailed design and construction execution. During this time he has successfully delivered small projects with limit capital budgets to world class multi-billion dollar projects.

LTS Futures Live Trial Operations Manager, SGN
Gemma has over 10 years’ experience working in high pressure gas transmission, research and testing on a range of projects related to hydrogen. She currently is the live trial operations manager for the SGN LTS Futures project where a successful live trial has repurposed an existing local transmission system pipeline to convey hydrogen and demonstrated live welding and flow stopping techniques.

Project Manager, Bohr Limited
Carolyne joined Bohr in November 2024 as a Project Manager. At Bohr, her focus is close collaboration with Site integrators, Operators and Gas Distribution Networks (GDNs) to ensure overall cohesion and compliance of Gas Entry Units to the National and GDN standards and regulations.
Prior to Bohr, she has held key roles in project delivery and operations within the waste-to-RNG industry including waste processing, anaerobic digestion, gas upgrading, and gas analysis.

Senior Vice President, Energy Systems UK & Ireland, DNV
Hari is Senior Vice President at DNV. He has over 30 years’ experience in various leadership positions across the energy and shipping sectors. He sits on the Energy Systems Executive Leadership Team.
He is currently the Regional Director of Energy Systems operations in the UK and Ireland, leading an 800-strong advisory and assurance team across the entire Energy System – Renewables, Power Grids and Oil & Gas. He is focused on helping customers making the transition to a decarbonised energy future and with a positive biodiversity impact. He is an authority on the complex facets of the whole systems approach to the energy transition.
Harry is also chairperson of all DNV’s UK and Ireland businesses. He is a graduate of Imperial College, London and holds a master’s in chemical engineering.

SGN Special Advisor
Sarah is a recognised leader in the UK utilities sector, with nearly 30 years’ experience across electricity, gas and water. Most recently, as Chief Strategy & Regulation Officer at Pennon Group (FTSE 250), she led corporate strategy, regulatory and government engagement, environmental and Net Zero strategy, and a £4bn business plan. She previously served as Director of Regulation, Asset Strategy and H&SE at Wales & West Utilities, leading long-term business transformation, Net Zero planning, regulatory strategy and asset management.
Sarah has a strong track record of leading price control reviews, influencing national regulatory frameworks and delivering complex organisational and cultural change across large operational businesses.

System Operations Manager, Wales & West Utilities
Bethan Winter is Wales & West Utilities System Operation Manager. She manages the Control Room and transmission planning teams that manage the gas distribution network across Wales and the south west of England.
She also plays a key role in Wales & West Utilities Net Zero work, leading on a range of projects including our Business Evolution programme which is considering the impact of decarbonisation on our network, operations and colleagues.
