The IGEM Executive Board for the 2025–2026 season brings together a dynamic and diverse group of professionals whose collective expertise spans engineering, innovation, customer experience, policy and strategic leadership. From apprenticeships to executive roles, and from frontline operations to cutting-edge research in hydrogen and net zero technologies, each member contributes a unique perspective shaped by years of dedication to the energy and gas sectors.
Abdul Kamara
Abdul is a strategic, insightful and solutions-oriented professional, with experience in shaping net zero policies to drive meaningful change in sectors ranging from energy, built environment, green finance and transport.
He has a passion for advocating on behalf of companies to influence legislative and regulatory outcomes.
Andy Cummings
Andy, a Chartered Engineer with over 39 years’ experience in gas engineering, has progressed from apprentice to Senior Principal Consultant and Business Development Lead at DNV’s Research and Development site.
He is currently developing large projects in the hydrogen and CCUS sectors, focusing on technical and safety evidence gaps.
Darren Elsom
Darren is a highly respected senior leader in the energy sector with over 30 years’ experience. Currently Chief Operating Officer at SGN, Darren oversees operations, engineering, asset management and customer service in southern England, Scotland and the west of Northern Ireland.
He has worked on high level projects such as HyNet and East Coast Hydrogen and energy connections including biomethane, power generation, industry and CNG for transport.
David Tomkin
David is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of IGEM, who began his career 24 years ago as an apprentice engineer with Transco.
He now serves as a Principal Consultant for DNV at their Spadeadam Research and Testing site in Cumbria, specialising in hazardous trials and incident investigation.
Harriet Guiry
Harriet is the Lead Innovation Engineer for Business Development at National Gas, covering a number of areas including operational and commercial requirements, frameworks and processes related to operating a three-molecule network, skills and competencies, investments, potential new industry sectors and customer behaviours.
Henry James
Henry is Wales & West Utilities’ Net Zero Portfolio Manager for industrial clusters.
He is a Chartered Engineer responsible for delivering the company’s contribution to industrial cluster initiatives such as the South Wales Industrial Cluster, including the development of infrastructure projects such as HyLine Cymru.
Katie Higgins
Katie graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2006 with a BA (Hons) in Business.
She joined Steve Vick International (SVI) in 2007 as Sales & Marketing Assistant and quickly established herself within the organisation, progressing to Sales & Marketing Manager.
In 2015, following a period of significant growth at SVI, Katie was appointed Sales & Marketing Director as part of a wider management restructure aimed at supporting the company’s continued momentum.
Nicola Evans
Nicola is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow, who began her career 36 years ago as an Apprentice Gas Service Engineer with British Gas.
She has subsequently held operational and strategic roles within Transco, National Grid, Wales & West Utilities, Bristol Water, Penspen and now works at Skewb as its Director of Gas Transition & Futures.
Nicola is current IGEM President, a Non-Executive Director at FEN and sits on IGEM’s EDI committee.
Sikander Mahmood
Sikander is an Incorporated Mechanical Engineer who joined Cadent to support the UK’s transition to net zero.
He began his career in operational roles, including frontline emergency response and pipeline maintenance.
Sikander has spent the majority of his career in the Future Networks team, where he now sets strategic direction as Programme Manager for blending.
Victoria Mustard
Victoria joined NESO in March 2024 and is currently the head of Whole Energy Customer Management, working with NESO’s customers to improve experience and ensure their voices are heard.
She has spent the last 15 years working within the energy industry, focusing on developing customer experience and driving decarbonisation.
This breadth of experience ensures that IGEM is guided by a board that not only understands the challenges of today but is also equipped to shape the future of the industry with insight, inclusivity, and innovation.
