Large-scale hydrogen plant gets the go ahead

The planning committee of Cheshire West and Chester Council has granted approval to the plans put forth by Essar Energy Transition (EET), a subsidiary of Essar Oil, for the establishment of the UK's inaugural large-scale hydrogen production facility.

This plant will be situated at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Ellesmere Port. Through the process of reforming natural gas, the plant will generate low carbon hydrogen fuel while also capturing around 97% of the produced CO2 for storage.

This initiative forms part of a broader nationally significant infrastructure project.
