IGEM is pleased to share that Holly Mumby EngTech MIGEM has been shortlisted for the Best Newly Registered Technician Award at the 2025 Women’s Engineering Society (WES) Awards.

The WES Awards recognise excellence in engineering practice and celebrate individuals who are making a meaningful contribution to the profession while supporting greater gender balance and inclusion. Each Professional Engineering Institution (PEI) may nominate only one candidate for each one of the PEI Awards, and IGEM is proud to see Holly recognised.

Holly is a Senior Integrity Engineer at Cadent Gas Limited with 19 years of experience in the gas industry. She began her career in 2006 as an apprentice Governor Technician and has progressed through a range of technical and supervisory roles before moving into engineering. In her current role, Holly leads engineering frameworks for pressure reduction installations, oversees asset maintenance, manages Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and chairs technical forums, demonstrating strong technical expertise, professional judgement and leadership.

Alongside her engineering responsibilities, Holly is a committed advocate for gender diversity and inclusion. She supports women and early-career engineers through mentoring, contributes to inclusive recruitment practices and supports work experience opportunities that encourage young women to pursue technical careers. She is also involved in innovation projects and PPE testing to help ensure women’s needs are considered in engineering environments.

Reflecting on her shortlisting, Holly said: “I am proud to nominated for this award and absolutely honoured to be shortlisted. I have worked in the gas industry for 19 years and have always prided myself on supporting anyone who wants to progress or enter into engineering. Being shortlisted shows me that I am doing the right thing in my career and will continue to strive to ensure a fully inclusive environment for anyone to thrive in."

The WES Awards will be presented as part of the Caroline Haslett Lecture and Awards Ceremony on 16 December 2025 in London.

IGEM wishes Holly the very best of luck at the awards.
