UK reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 50%

New official statistics reveal that the UK has successfully cut its emissions by 50% between 1990 and 2022, making it the first major economy to achieve such a significant reduction.

Remarkably, this accomplishment was attained alongside an impressive 80% growth in the country's economy.

The main cause of these reductions can be attributed to the shift from coal to renewable energy sources in electricity production. It is expected that coal's share in the UK's electricity generation will completely diminish by the end of this year.
