UK ‘poised to greenlight billions for Drax’s BECCS plan’

The UK Government is said to be on the verge of granting approval for a carbon capture project worth billions at Drax Power Station.

The plan entails the integration of two carbon capture plants with Drax's current generating units located in North Yorkshire.

Discussions between Drax Group and the government commenced in March last year, during which Drax Group's CEO, Will Gardiner, conveyed their preparedness to proceed with a £2 billion investment initiative, subject to the government's involvement and prompt decision-making.
