Powering Tomorrow: BP's Vision for a Hydrogen Future in Teesside

BP has applied for planning permission to construct a hydrogen facility in Teesside.

This comes after conducting a consultation on its HyGreen project in Redcar in 2023. The company stated that the plant aims to generate hydrogen through electrolysis of water using electricity, primarily sourced from low carbon outlets, to be utilised in various industrial operations.

The proposals presented to Redcar and Cleveland Council outline that the produced hydrogen will be distributed to neighboring factories through pipelines.
