National Grid’s Grain LNG in gas storage expansion deal

Grain LNG, which is managed by National Grid, has recently revealed a ten-year deal with Sonatrach, an Algerian gas company.

This agreement will expand the storage and redelivery capabilities at the Grain LNG terminal starting from January 2029.

It is significant as it is the inaugural outcome of Grain LNG's auction process that was initiated in September 2023. It ensures an import capacity of 125GWh/d, which is equivalent to three million tonnes per annum of LNG.
