IGEM welcomes Pipeline Infrastructure Limited as its first Company Member in India
The Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM) is delighted to welcome Pipeline Infrastructure Limited (PIL) – a gas transmission network connecting the east and west of the country – as the first Company Member to join the Institution in India. This milestone provides a platform for IGEM to build upon as we grow our membership in the region, which is being pursued by Mr Nitin Patil, IGEM’s Ambassador in India.
Alongside individuals becoming members of IGEM, there is a growing interest within the Indian gas sector to unite under IGEM as its Professional Engineering Institution, aiming to assist with the current gas system and the forthcoming transition to net zero.
Through Company Membership, IGEM offers access to a wide range of benefits accessible to our overseas members, including:
- IGEM’s technical panels, working groups and professional development pathways
- Technical standards, the Gi journal, Hydrogen Knowledge Centre and IGEMtv resources
- Sector-wide events, training and webinars
PIL's Managing Director Akhil Mehrotra said: "At Pipeline Infrastructure Limited (PIL), we believe that knowledge sharing, and collaboration are key to shaping the future of sustainable energy. Becoming a member of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) is not just an affiliation – it is a commitment to learn, exchange and contribute alongside global leaders in the gas sector.
"This membership strengthens PIL’s resolve to adopt international best practices, embrace innovation and play a meaningful role in advancing safe and reliable energy solutions for India. We look forward to engaging actively with the IGEM community and leveraging their global expertise to drive meaningful progress”
IGEM's CEO Oliver Lancaster said: “It’s been encouraging and exciting to build a very positive relationship with our industry colleagues at Pipeline Infrastructure Limited during 2025 and I am really pleased to welcome them into IGEM as a valued Company Member.
"Working with PIL and other stakeholders, I look forward to continue supporting the delivery of a prosperous future for the rapidly expanding gas transmission and distribution networks in India, including the use of IGEM’s technical standards, professional development processes, gas policy research, Hydrogen Knowledge Centre and connecting India with the rest of our global network of Company Members.”
