IGEM Explores: Sports Science

Dave Horrocks, Director of Research and Development (Peak4), will be sharing insights on transferring an elite sporting performance mindset, in today's gas industry challenges.

IGEM Explores is designed to connect industry professionals and look into key areas of our dynamic and ever-evolving energy sector. This interactive webinar series takes place every second Tuesday of the month and provides a platform for collaboration, learning and networking.

This session was delivered by Dave Horrocks, Director of Research and Development (Peak4). Dave explored sports science and high performance looking at how elite sporting practices are tangibly affecting the modern day workforce and the future productivity and profitability of industry. 

David is an educational and sports specialist and another former member of the world class support team at Manchester United Football Club as their former head of research and development. His responsibility and specialisms are best practice, best in class operations and high performing cultures across areas such as technology, the coaching process, performance analytics, science, psychology, and the efficient use of data in modern sports and business operations. 

Over the years David has engaged with many successful and world class organizations such as British Cycling, Borussia Dortmund, The DFB, Milwaukee Bucks, Cricket Australia, London School of Contemporary Dance, Red Bull, AMG Mercedes, U.K. Military leaders, The FA Premier League, The League Managers Association and Inter Miami among others. 

David is also a consultant to Findel Education, Veo Technologies, Carleton University Canada (Sprott Business School) and Inspire Sports and is currently running an employee health and wellbeing program for up to 6000 workers with Cadent Gas in conjunction with Whoop technologies. 

The early part of David's career was spent in the corporate and government services world in technology with manufacturers such as Cisco, Avaya and Samsung operating in Police, Banking, NHS, and Local Government. 

David is also a published scientist with peer reviewed papers in The International Journal of Sports Science and Coaching, The Psychologist, and The British Psychological Society Journal on the topics of elite level football coaching, serial winning teams, serial winning individuals and the cognitive processes of elite footballers. 
A vastly experienced educator and an active coach himself working with younger aged footballers in both boys' and girls' football and as an advisor on the multi-disciplinary environment to many industries, coaches, managers and support team practitioners.
