Extended gas reliance is needed after 262 windless days, says National Gas boss

Chief Executive of National Gas, Jon Butterworth has urged the need for fossil fuels, particularly gas to avoid power blackouts in the UK.

Butterworth highlights the vital role gas continues to play as it bridges the gap when renewable energy sources are unable to generate power.

In 2022, Jon explains that the UK saw 262 days where the wind did not blow enough to generate power meaning that gas supported the power needed across the UK.
