A new chapter for the Sir Denis Rooke Library

IGEM is excited to share a series of new developments at the Sir Denis Rooke Library that will improve access to industry knowledge for our community.

Today marks the launch of our new online library catalogue. Although still in its early stages, this growing digital resource details more than 8,000 items, with new additions continuing over time. Members and non-members can now more easily explore our collection of journals, technical papers and institutional records.

We are also reimagining the physical library space. Refurbishment work is now underway, and the library is currently closed as this progresses. The redeveloped area will offer a welcoming and versatile environment for focused individual work, small meetings and quiet research, while maintaining direct access to IGEM’s rich historical archive.

These developments have been made possible thanks to the dedication of IGEM’s members, volunteers and secretariat. Their efforts help preserve not only the history of the gas industry, but its wider social, political and economic story as well.

The library belongs to our community, and we want it to reflect your needs. What would you like to see? Your feedback will help shape how we support your professional development, research and curiosity in the years ahead.

For enquiries, access to the collection, or to share your ideas, please get in touch with our Librarian, Matt Winfield, at [email protected]
