IGEM YPPC 2020 winner announced

15/12/2020 15:05

Our first ever virtual YPPC Final took place today and was a huge success with over 100 attendees supporting the finalists.

All ten finalists did a fantastic job with their presentations but there could be only one winner. Congratulations to Sikander Mahmood from Cadent, representing the North West Section, who took home the trophy with his presentation on HyDeploy 2 - Public Demonstrations of Blended Gas.

Sikander's paper will be released in Gi and the presentations will soon be available to watch on IGEMtv.

Well done to our two runners up, Rebecca Senior from Rosen representing the North East and Yorkshire Section, with her presentation on Using SAR Imagery to Detect Flooding, and Niamh Gillen at Gas Networks Ireland representing the Irish Section, with her presentation on Decarbonisation of the Gas Network – Carbon Capture and Storage.

Thank you to all of the finalists, everyone who attended, our judges and event sponsors Cadent, Northern Gas Networks, SGN, Towngas and Wales & West Utilities.

Applications for next year's competition will open again in 2021. If you'd like to be in with a chance of winning, get your thinking cap on for your entry and keep a look out for details on how to enter. Find out more about the YPPC here.
