Hong Kong hosted a reception for the new members of IGEM’s Far East District Section (FEDS) in December.
The Section was delighted to welcome a variety of guests and professional experts from across the industry to attend the ceremony in which new members were celebrated and recognised for their professional contributions.
The event began with a welcome speech from Pak Kin Cheung, IGEM FEDS Chair.
Mr Cheung introduced the development of the FEDS, its recent activities and membership status. Up to December 2020, IGEM FEDS has expanded with over 220 individual members and 56 Industrial Affiliate members. Despite the outbreak of Covid-19, the Section has continued to serve its members with flexibility and integrity.
IGEM President Duncan Wong presented certificates to the Section’s new members and welcomed them to the IGEM family.
Fifteen new members, including four Chartered Engineers and 11 Engineering Technicians, received certificates from the President.
The reception was an excellent opportunity for new members to learn about IGEM and discover the benefits of being a member.
The event was followed by a technical webinar on a new and innovative technique that involves the insertion of optical fibre cable into gas pipelines in Hong Kong.
The Section was honoured to have Kam To Lai, General Manager of Distribution Operation at the Hong Kong and China Gas Co Ltd, as the speaker.
