In November, the Irish Section held a paper evening in Belfast in collaboration with the Pipeline Industries Guild (PIG) to provide an update on developments within the natural gas industry to utilise Hydrogen. Philip Brain, KIWA and Corin Taylor, DNVGL gave an excellent overview of the work completed and the many ongoing projects and experiments that they are currently involved with.

In December, we followed this up with a second paper evening in Cork, also in collaboration with the Pipeline Industries Guild (PIG). The presentations for this event were delivered by Philip Brain, KIWA and John Beirne, Ervia.

Both presentations across the two events succeeded in spiking the interests of the audience and hopefully this will lead to further discussions.

I believe that this demonstrates that the natural gas industry has a fantastic and very exciting future ahead as we all seek to meet the government’s ambitious commitment to climate action by driving decarbonisation.
