Unboxing Mental Health

Come along to our Unboxing Mental Health Webinar on February 15 to hear from Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Trainer, Christo Hudson.

Christo Hudson initially started his 20-year flying career in the RAF and subsequently became a commercial pilot. As a Training Captain, his role led him to become an incident investigator, examining data from onboard Black Box data recorders. He quickly discovered that there was much more going on behind the flight deck door and that pilots felt unable to talk openly about their mental health.

Following a life-changing redundancy and his own lived experience of poor mental health, Christo trained as a Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Trainer. Through his roles as a mentor and peer support volunteer, he has seen how life's struggles can be debilitating and how it is possible to help and support someone when they are unwell. Through his training, he helps people to become more confident with "uncomfortable" conversations.

Please come and join the one-hour “Unboxing Mental Health” online event where he will start to break the stigma surrounding mental health. Christo will talk about what mental health is, the prevalence of mental health conditions and why understanding mental health is so important. He will cover anxiety and depression and tips for coping when you feel like you might be struggling. He will also talk about how to spot signs of poor mental health and how to start a conversation with someone that you are worried about. Christo will also talk through the support on offer to IGEM members and how to make use of it if needs be.
