Essential Clothing for Your Hadrian’s Wall Walk
To help you stay comfortable and prepared for all conditions, here’s what we recommend bringing:
- Suitable footwear: Sturdy walking boots or trail shoes with good grip
- Walking socks: Preferably moisture-wicking and cushioned for long distances
- Bottoms:
- Lightweight shorts for warmer weather
- ¾ or full-length trousers for cooler days
- Waterproof over-trousers: Easy to slip on over boots if the rain hits
- Layering system:
- Base layer made from breathable, wicking material
- Mid-layer fleece of appropriate thickness
- Maggie’s are supplying us with t-shirts so please give us your size when booking
- Outerwear:
- Waterproof and windproof jacket with roomy fit and accessible pockets
- Or a lighter jacket for milder conditions
- Headwear: Cap or hat for sun or chill protection
Packed Lunch, Water & Snacks
To keep your energy up and spirits high during the 10-mile walk, don’t forget to bring:
- Plenty of water: At least 1–2 litres per person, depending on weather
- Snacks for the trail: Think slow-release energy—nuts, dried fruit, granola bars, flapjacks, or bananas
- Packed lunch: Something satisfying but easy to carry—sandwiches, wraps, pasta salad, or anything that won’t spoil in your backpack
- Treats for morale: A little chocolate or sweets can go a long way when you hit mile 8!
