Neil Mackay, CEng MIMechE, Business Development Manager, STATS Group (UK) Ltd, will be discussing how an innovative pipeline isolation plug prevents pipeline depressurisation offshore for valve replacement.
His work looks at how a remote controlled isolation pig was designed and manufactured to provide a failsafe double block and monitor isolation, which saved time, costs and the requirement to flare CO2 into the atmosphere.
Neil has worked as a Business Development Manager for STATS Group since 2018. STATS Group are the market leader in the provision of temporary pipeline isolation tools.
Neil graduated from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh with a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering before moving to Norway in 2013 to continue his professional development. During these years he gained global experience in pipeline pre-commissioning, decommissioning and pipeline cleaning projects, also working with innovative pipeline debris assessment technology. He became a Senior Engineer and attained CEng status in 2015.
