Bishop Auckland Compressor Station and Flow Centre (DNV) Visit

Join the North East and Yorkshire Section on their visit to the Bishop Auckland Compressor Station and DNV Flow Centre

To meet future energy needs for heat, power, and transportation while achieving net zero, hydrogen as a natural gas substitute must be used. National Grid Gas Transmission are evaluating the costs and opportunities to repurpose the existing compression equipment to keep costs to a minimum for gas consumers.

The day will begin with a tour of the DNV Flow Centre. It is one of the world's largest high-pressure natural gas flow facilities, DNV Research and Testing Bishop Auckland has a global reputation for technical expertise, quality, and flexibility of service – essential for world-class flow meter calibration and safety valve testing. Attendees will see first hand how large scale meter calibration is carried out.

In addition, members will visit the Bishop Auckland Compressor site. You will attend an induction on arrival following a presentation on the Alpha phase of the HyNTS Compression project. You will then be invited on a tour of the station.
