Funding your future

IGEM’s scholarships, grants and awards are here to support you on your educational journey and beyond. We aim to inspire innovation and personal development by recognising and rewarding your achievements wherever we can. The following scholarships and grants are available to those working towards an engineering career with an interest in the energy sector, via university study.


Prospective undergraduate students

 The undergraduate scholarship is open to students who currently hold a conditional or unconditional offer for an Undergraduate Engineering Council accredited course. View the full list of accredited courses to check your eligibility here.

Scholarships first year

First year undergraduate students

The first year undergraduate scholarship is open to those enrolled on their first year of their Engineering Council accredited degree and making excellent progress, to the standard of 2:1 or above. View the full list of accredited courses to check your eligibility here.

Prospective postgraduate students

The postgraduate masters scholarship is open to exceptional postgraduates from an Engineering Council accredited degree programme, who wish to pursue an Engineering Council accredited masters degree. View the full list of accredited courses to check your eligibility here.

Scholarships postgraduate
Scholarships student grant

Student grant

If you’re in financial need and are on an Engineering Council accredited undergraduate degree you can apply for a grant of up to £1,500. Grants are awarded per academic year.

Apprentice development grant

This award is open to any individual who is working towards or has completed (within the last twelve months), an engineering apprenticeship within an organisation working in the gas sector.

Engineering Technician development grant

This grant recognises outstanding IGEM EngTech members and the contribution they are making to the gas industry and wider community. The successful applicant will be awarded up to £1,500 to put used to support their career development.
