By Ben Smith, North East & Yorkshire Section Chair
The IGEM North East & Yorkshire Section hosted its Winter Charity Ball in November. The chosen charity for 2019 was Bright Red, a North East-based charity that improves the lives and treatment of people dealing with blood cancer.
The evening was hosted by Phil Embleton with his trademark humour and enthusiasm. Following a fantastic three course meal, and one or two glasses of wine, the evening shifted attention to raising money.
The generosity of those in attendance raised over £2,400 for Bright Red during an entertaining raffle prize draw and auction.
The evening continued past midnight with drinks flowing and plenty of action on the dancefloor.
It was great to see the North East and Yorkshire gas community come together to enjoy each other’s company and raise money for a great cause.
This event would not be possible if it were not for the planning, hard work and endeavours of the North East and Yorkshire committee with the support of the event sponsors. Special thanks go to Barry Dalus, Sara Lambelle-Wilson and the event sponsors: Armstrong, DNV GL, Expedient, ROSEN Northern Gas Networks, PIE, QEM and Synthotech.
