Once you’re signed up, you will be assigned to one of our regional Sections based upon your location. As well as participating in the activities organised by IGEM headquarters getting involved with your local Section is an important part of being a member.

Our Sections host a range of events throughout the year including presentations delivered by leading industry experts, technical visits to help you extend your knowledge by getting out there and seeing operations in real life and social events that are great fun and provide opportunities to meet individuals with the same interests as you.

Many of the events and training courses that we run are CPD approved and we provide you with CPD certificates for all of the eligible ones that you attend, including details of the learning outcomes.
You can record all of this information within mycareerpath so that it’s ready for when you decide to make your next career move. Keeping accurate and up to date records of your IPD and CPD activities is also a requirement of IGEM membership.

Our job board is the place to go to find the latest gas, engineering and management vacancies and is a great resource for finding targeted job postings for your specific area of interest. A number of job opportunities are also advertised in Gi.
Get yourself noticed
Listing your membership with us on your CV and professional development record is a great way to demonstrate your commitment to the gas industry and professional excellence and can help you stand out from the crowd.
Another great way of getting yourself noticed is by becoming a professionally registered engineer. You can do this by achieving membership with us as an Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) and in doing so will be entitled to use the aforementioned letters after your name.
Being nominated for an award at our annual Gas Industry Awards, organised in conjunction with the Energy Utilities Alliance (EUA) offers the opportunity to have your achievements recognised by your peers.
The Young Persons’ Paper Competition organised by our Young Persons Network (YPN) is another excellent way to share your professional activities with others and be recognised for the work that you do.
With busy lives, we understand that it can be hard to find time to volunteer. However, there are many benefits of volunteering and it can be an enriching and rewarding experience that enables you to increase your knowledge and understanding. There are lots of ways that you can volunteer, the details of which are covered in the Get Involved pages.
The Hydrogen Knowledge Centre is a digital repository dedicated to the advancement of hydrogen learning globally and supporting the transition to a net-zero carbon emissions future. The repository hosts and signposts to hydrogen resources from across gas network and supply chain organisations, academic institutions, research bodies, industry experts and policy makers.
