About our section

Members aged 35 and under are automatically assigned to our Young Persons Network (YPN) in addition to their local Section. Designed specifically to support individuals early in their career, the benefits of the YPN include: career mentorship, technical paper evenings, best practice industrial visits, opportunity to enter the annual Young Persons Paper Competition, networking with like-minded peers and social events.

George graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering in 2017 and in the same year commenced the Engineering Graduate Scheme with Cadent Gas.

Temporary roles included Integrity Officer and Project Supervisor before joining the 2 Bar and Below Engineering Services team full time. George currently delivers high volume, small scale, capital investment projects for Cadent’s Operate & Maintain function in the East Midlands. He became a Chartered Engineering with IGEM in June 2021.

As Chair, George aspires to progress the following key aims:

  • Engagement – helping bridge the gap between education and industry, and early career and professional registration.

  • Skills development – improving the capabilities of our next generation engineers and managers.

  • Hydrogen enablement – providing members the opportunities to engage and shape the hydrogen mission.
