About our Section

The Welsh Section activities include technical paper evenings and an interesting array of site visits to facilities across the country. We try to make the most of the variety of gas related facilities within Wales, such as the Cardiff Energy Recovery Facility, peaking plants and coke ovens. Our annual dinner takes place in the autumn and is a wonderful opportunity to network with colleagues from across the industry.

The current Chair of our Welsh Section is Morgan James. Morgan joined Wales & West Utilities in August 2012, after graduating from Swansea University with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He initially enrolled on the Graduate Scheme, a two-year structured programme that involved placements across the business followed by several value-add projects.

His current role is an Asset Manager, within Asset Integrity, and is responsible for high pressure pipelines, pressure management and high pressure storage. Morgan is now a Chartered Engineer, becoming accredited in March 2019, and has now ticked off a major goal, something he's strived to achieve since embarking on his career in Engineering.

During Morgan's year as Chair he's looking to build on the success of previous Chairs by holding several exciting events, including technical visits, and of course the big one, the Welsh Section Annual Charity Dinner, which is always a good evening.
