This Gas Industry Standard (GIS) specifies general design, materials and performance testing of spring-operated diaphragm slamshut valves of both stand-alone and integral types with inlet pressures in the range greater than 75 mbar to not greater than 7 bar, and temperatures in the range –20 ºC to 60 ºC inclusive.

This specification contains the requirements for the welding of carbon, carbon manganese and low alloy steels used in the construction of onshore natural gas installations designed to operate at pressures greater than 7 bar in accordance with the recommendations given in IGEM/TD/1 and IGEM/TD/13 in the UK or IS 328 in the Republic of Ireland.

This Gas Industry Standards (*GIS) specifies additional and modified requirements for acoustic cladding of gas pipe and other equipment such as valves, regulators and flanges. It does not cover acoustic cladding of large vessels. This specification is supplementary to ISO 15665:2003 and amends the requirements of ISO 15665:2003 with either additions, removals or replacements instructions for specific clauses and the relevant clause in ISO 15665:2003 is stated. This specification details the Gas Transporter requirements for the welding and inspection of carbon, carbon manganese and low alloy steel pipe and steel fitting components for gas distribution systems delivering natural gas at pressures not greater than 7 bar.
