Rob Murphy is Energy & Utility Skills’ lead on labour market intelligence and strategic workforce planning services.

Since 2004 he has supported many of the UK’s energy and utilities companies in assessing the impact of the full range of internal and external factors that will affect their ability to recruit and retain the skills they need now and in the future, and to understand more fully the challenges/ opportunities posed by their wider operating environment.  His work involves working with individual companies and at a sector level.

Rob has also produced a wide range of sector-specific labour market intelligence focussing on a number of issues and geographies, including an assessment of the skills and labour requirements of the UK offshore wind industry, an Energy Skills Investment Plan for Scotland, evidence to the Migration Advisory Committee on skills shortages and helping to establish a labour market observatory in Bahrain.

He is a Certified Member of the Market Research Society (undertaking all his duties in accordance with their Code of Conduct) and also sits on the British Standards Institute’s Human Capital Committee.
