An opportunity to bring colleagues from across the industry and academia up to date on the latest developments within the HyDeploy project aimed at de-carbonising the gas network.
This is a free of charge event
The HyDeploy project centralising around the work being done at Keele University is the UK’s first practical project to demonstrate that hydrogen can be safely blended into the natural-gas distribution system without requiring changes to appliances and the associated disruption. Heating homes and industry accounts for half of the UK’s energy consumption and one third of its carbon emissions, with 83% of homes using gas to keep warm. A 20% hydrogen blend rolled out across the country could save roughly six million tonnes of carbon emissions every year – the equivalent of taking 2.5 million cars off the road.
The presentation will give an overview of how hydrogen can play a critical role in large scale decarbonisation and how the North West will be pivotal in achieving this objective.
