28th April 2008
On 24 April, the YPN hosted the 2008 IGEM young persons’ paper competition at Silverstone racing circuit. As each of the 7 finalists had won a sectional qualifying event, the standard was high. After the presentations, the judges were left to deliberate over the first, second, and third places whilst the attendees went on a behind the scenes tour of Silverstone. Notably, this included being driven around the circuit by a racing instructor, who provided a fascinating insight into the circuit. And shown around race control, where we learnt how a race is managed.
Eileen Coombs was selected as the winner and her paper along with the other finalists will shortly be available on the website under the presentations section.
