Inspiring the engineers of the future
I'm an Engineer, Get me out of here! is set
to give engineers the chance to inspire the next generation without
leaving the office.
I'm an Engineer, Get me out of here! is funded by the
Royal Academy of Engineering's public engagement grants scheme,
Ingenious. It is just one of over 70 projects funded to
date by the scheme to encourage engineers to share their stories in
a creative and original way.
The project, conceived by Gallomanor Communications, brings
schoolchildren and engineers together, via an online chat room.
Taking place on 12-23 March 2012, engineers will field students'
questions in an attempt to survive a daily eviction, and win £500
to spend on their own engagement activity. From finding out how to
create greener energy, to favourite childhood memories, any
question goes.
I'm an Engineer is now looking for all types of engineers
- from, industry, academia, in the UK or abroad - to take part.
While students get an inside look at the life of an engineer,
participating engineers will improve their communication skills,
see their work from a different angle and have fun along the
way.
To find out more and take part, apply online on the I'm an Engineer,
Get me out of here! website by Monday 16
January.
