IGEM has a network of Sections that enhances membership by
offering a local perspective and enabling involvement with issues
in and around the gas industry. The Sections are run by volunteers
who organise a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
events and networking opportunities.
Each Section has its own Chairperson and Secretary to deal with
any queries you may have within your area.
Chair Wales Section
Oliver is a Principal Environmental
Engineer at Wales & West Utilities (WWU) based in Newport,
After graduating from the University of Wales in 2003 with a BSc in
Environmental Earth Science Oliver went on to study for an MSc in
Geoenvironmental Engineering at the University of Wales, Cardiff.
He then spent nearly five years working predominantly as a
contractor on gas industry projects before joining WWU in
Over the course of the coming year, Oliver is organising the 50th
anniversary IGEM Wales District Section dinner in October as well
as making arrangements for technical visits. He also has
aspirations to include a visit to a landfill gas facility, a
brewery biomethane project and WWU's gasholder sludge treatment
innovation project in the Section's calendar.
