Wales Section

IGEM has a network of Sections that enhances membership by offering a local perspective and enabling involvement with issues in and around the gas industry. The Sections are run by volunteers who organise a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events and networking opportunities.

Each Section has its own Chairperson and Secretary to deal with any queries you may have within your area.

Martyn Pallant

Chair Wales Section

Martyn PallantMartyn began his career as a Multiskilled Apprentice in 1997, undertaking training and assessment in emergency and metering activates, repair and replace activities, pressure management and maintenance of the national transmission system through to local distribution zone networks. During his third year, he was nominated to complete his apprenticeship in the pressure management section of the business. In 2008, he took up a managerial role in asset management, looking after all <7 bar above ground pressure reduction installations. He said: "Currently I am responsible for the management of a network wide resource model that allows numerous work types to be placed in one location, to analyse workloads into the future, to identify manpower requirements, opportunities for balancing workloads and delivery options using engineering best practice and innovative maintenance techniques. "In my year of office, I would like to encourage the younger members of our organisation and industry in Wales to become members of IGEM so they too can benefit from the support network and knowledge base offered by the Institution."
