Benefits
Membership of IGEM is fundamental to the recognition,
representation and professional development demanded by successful
engineers and managers throughout the gas industry.
Career & Professional Development
IGEM can guide you towards your professional development and
advise on how you can upgrade your professional membership and give
you designatory letters after your name. Assign you with a mentor
to help you support and achieve your personal goals. You can also
become a mentor and we can support you on training workshops to
enhance your mentoring skills. We can also provide you a list of
training centres who can help you find the right course for your
needs.
Sharing Knowledge
You will gain access and be subscribed to our monthly journal
with latest industry & technology news. Members enjoy
discounted member rates to events, conferences and workshops hosted
by IGEM throughout the year. Members have access and discounts to a
range of IGEM Standards which form the Industry Technical Standards
and Codes of Practice.
Networking
IGEM hosts a range of events and technical seminars which focus
on specific industry technologies and allow engineering
professionals to come together and offer expertise and advice to
technical issues. Some of the events IGEM host every year include
the Annual Conference and Engineering Update, Gas Industry Awards,
Summer Ball and Leadership Lecture. IGEM can give you the
opportunity to meet fellow members at meetings and social
functions.
Local Section Involvement
IGEM has ten District Sections, along with a Young Persons
Network for those members under 30 years of age. The Sections are
run by volunteers who organise a range of Continued Professional
Development (CPD) events and networking opportunities.
Once accepted as a member, you will be allocated to a 'Section'
based on your geographical location. This allows you to attend
local Section Events and meet other IGEM members, to discuss any
topical issues and concerns. It also involves social events and
visits to other places of interest, such as Power Stations.
Support
The IGEM Benevolent Fund is a separate registered charity, which
helps members of IGEM and their families. For more information or
to make an application please contact IGEM on 0844 375 4436.
