Benevolent Fund
The Institution has a Benevolent Fund that was incorporated and registered as a charity in March 1962.
The principal activity of this fund is the provision of financial assistance for current and past members of the Institution and their dependants.
The Benevolent Fund Committee consists of representation from all Sections of the Institution as well as the President, Senior Vice President and 4 ordinary Corporate Members. It meets twice a year and part of its mandate is to review applications for assistance from the Benevolent Fund and decide on their suitability. There is a strict criteria to be met for eligibility.
The process to apply is relatively simple:
- Contact IGEM Secretariat to register your request with Lesley Ecob by email: lesley@igem.org.uk, Telephone: 01509 282373 or post IGEM, Charnwood Wing, Holywell Park, Ashby Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 3GH.
- A simple application form is sent for completion
- Application is considered by Benevolent Fund Committee
- A Visit to the applicant is arranged if necessary
- Benevolent Fund assistance is arranged if application is sucessful
