President

Phil Brown is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years experience
in the gas industry and is a Fellow of The Institution.
Phil's priorities during his year as President are "to help IGEM
develop further it's membership offering, specifically by improving
access to the underpinning knowledge that our standards promote,
and more generally by supporting the implementation of the findings
from our strategy review".
He joined South East Gas as a Student in 1979 and has undertaken
many roles during his career in British Gas, Transco, and now
National Grid including district engineering operations, asset and
policy management, contract management, and most recently running
the 24/7 distribution network control centre.
Phil is a past Chairman of the IGEM Midlands Section and of the
Onshore Pipeline Operators Association. He supports and is also a
Trustee of the Gas Safety Trust, a charity that focuses on
increasing awareness of the safety and health risks associated with
carbon monoxide.
Outside of work Phil enjoys spending time walking and cycling
with his family and is a passionate 'veteran' rower on the River
Trent in Nottingham.
