IGEM/UP/11 Edition 2 - Gas installations for educational establishments
IGEM has now completed a major review of IGE/UP/11 for educational establishments (schools etc.) following a number of questions in recent times and the view that the old British Gas document IM/25 had more useful information.
The new draft is differently assembled with headings covering major issues such as pipework; ventilation; manual valves; automatic isolation valves; teaching areas; art, design & technology areas; food technology areas; laboratories; boiler rooms/spaces; testing & maintenance; emergency procedures; etc. Specifically this drafting includes much more detailed information on the provision of adequate ventilation as well as on the interlocking of ventilation systems with the associated automatic isolation valve systems and the option of carbon dioxide monitoring to control ventilation as part of an energy conservation measure.
Most importantly, the 2nd edition now incorporates a section for the guidance of school personnel such as governors, bursars, head teachers, teachers, technical staff etc, detailing their duties and responsibilities with respect to the gas installation and all appliances.
The contents of the main parts of the publication are intended for competency training for registered gas personnel as part of their special responsibilities within educational establishments. It is also essential that those persons designing and specifying equipment are competent with respect to the application of this publication inn order to ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors.
IGEM/UP/11 Edition 2 is available at £46 for members and £70 for non-members. Order online using the following link IGEM/UP/11 Edition 2.
IGEM/UP/1101 - Guidance on gas installations for the management and staff within educational establishments
This Guidance document picks up the relevant information for management and staff in educational estblishments from the IGEM standard, IGEM/UP/11 Edition 2. It details duties and responsibilities with respect to the gas installation and all appliances. It is hoped that the advice given will form part of the essential training for those persons within educational establishments working with gas appliances.
IGEM/UP/1101 is available at £10 for members and £16 for non-members. Order online using the following link IGEM/UP/1101.
IGEM/GL/4 Edition 2 - Gas system assets - risk management
IGE/GL/4 Edition 1 (entitled Management and Audit Procedures) has been superseded by IGEM/GL/4 Edition 2.
The scope of the document has been broadened from being just one for a safety management system to one covering the management of all types of risk associated with gas system assets. Risks include those associated with quality, the environment and safety.
The standard applies to Natural Gas, LPG, Bio-gas and Town’s Gas.
Due to the change in scope from Edition 1 to Edition 2 there have been many changes to the Sections covering Policy, Planning and Implementing, Auditing and Performance Review.
IGEM/GL/4 Edition 2 is available at £36 for members and £55 for non-members. Order online using the following link IGEM/GL/4 Edition 2.
IGEM/SR/14 Edition 2 - Fixed volume storage for lighter than air gases
IGE/SR/14 Parts 1 and 2 are now obsolete are a have been superseded by IGEM/SR/14 Edtion 2.
This Standard covers the safety aspects of design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, decommissioning, inspection, modification and repair of:
· horizontal vessels and
· buried pipe arraysfor the storage of fuel gases with a specific gravity of less than 0.7, together with associated pipework and valves.
IGEM/SR/14 Edition 2 is available at £58 for members and £87 for non-members. Order online using the following link IGEM/SR/14 Edition 2.
IGEM/UP/6 Edition 2 - Application of compressors to Natural Gas fuel systems
IGEM/UP/6 Edition 2 covers the application of new positive displacement reciprocating compressors, screw compressors, slide vane compressors and centrifugal compressors to downstream natural gas installation pipework systems. Positive displacement compressors installed on industrial and commercial premises, within the stated scope for pressure, volume and power input, are also covered, as are the positive displacement compressors used in natural gas vehicle filling stations, where the shaft power input, normally, is in the range 10kW to 100kW.
IGEM/UP/6 Edition 2 is available at £58 for members and £87 for non-members. Order online using the following link IGEM/UP/6 Edition 2.
IGEM/TD/101 Edition 2 Adoption of pipesystems by a GT - management of UIP activities
Edition 2 of IGEM/TD/101 has been published and is now available. It reflects changes in practices and terminology and has been prepared by IGEM’s Panel comprising representatives of District Network Operators, the AIGT, independent gas transporters, SBGI UIP section, GIRSAP and Consultants.
IGEM/TD/101 sets down the minimum management requirements for the laying of newly constructed Natural Gas mains and services (pipelines) including associated installations, for example a PRI, having MOP of 7 bar, for adoption by a GT.
IGEM/TD/101 Edition 2 is available at £46 for members and £70 for non-members. Order online using the following link IGEM/TD/101 Edition 2.
