Continuing Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of knowledge and skills and the development of personal qualities necessary for the execution of professional duties throughout your working life.
If you are to maximise your potential for lifetime employability, it is essential that you maintain high levels of professional competence by continually upgrading your skills and knowledge.
IGEM supports and encourages the CPD of all members and organisations in the gas industry and engineering profession. All registered professional engineers and engineering technicians are obliged by IGEM's code of conduct to:
- be committed to continuous learning and improvement
- own their development
- manage their development in a systematic manner; in particular through the process of review, plan, action and evaluation
- provide evidence of their development, when required
- focus development on achieving outputs, define through professional or other competence standards
